Colter & Peterson announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Knorr Systeme to provide C&P Peripheral paper handling equipment for its network of dealers around the world.     Â
Colter and Peterson sought a new partner to supply its peripheral equipment on a global scale because this equipment was no longer available from its former supplier. Since Colter and Peterson was already familiar with the full range of equipment available from Knorr Systeme, this partnership was a natural fit for both companies.
“In working together with Knorr Systeme we can now offer our mutual customers packages of equipment that include our new Saber and Prism-HPM cutting machines together with new Knorr Systeme peripheral equipment,” says Bruce Peterson, President of Colter and Peterson. “Knorr products have outstanding quality. C&P will continue to be able to offer its customers complete paper handling systems including air tables, stacklifts, joggers, grippers and unloaders from Knorr Systeme.”
Colter & Peterson is located at 414 East 16th Street. For more info, please click here.

Passaic County Department of Senior Services hosted a free seminar to educate seniors on the digital TV transition and information they need to know that will affect those who watch free over the air television
The seminar, presented by John Guisti of the Federal Communication Commission, focused on the new law that goes into effect on February 17, 2009.
The digital TV transition has been implemented for public safety. The switch will free up frequencies for police, fire and emergency rescue communications, while allowing broadcasters to offer better picture and sound quality and more program choices. The new system will also allow for more commercial advance wireless services.
The Federal Government is offering United State household up to two $40 coupons to help pay for certified TV converter boxes. A converter box is a one-time purchase that will allow consumers to use analog TV after the February 17, 2009 deadline.
For more information or to obtain digital-to-analog converter box coupons, contact the Passaic County Department of Senior Services at 973-569-4060.
Further information can be obtained by calling 1-888-DTV-2009 or 1-877-530-2634(TTY) www.DTV2009.gov.

I have noticed that, even though 17th was paved back in May and all streets markings that go along with it were taking care just a few weeks ago, there is still heavy equipment on the street. The reason being that after the avenue was paved huge craters developed that caused 17th avenue to be in worst shape than it was before it was paved. Currently, if take drive on 17th Ave you will see that between 23rd and 24th the city has place 2 gigantic steel plates to fix whatever is developing under the street - more than likely another sink hole.  Lets try to get it right the first time. This is costing the taxpayes a bundle.

A framework for preparing every New Jersey student for college and the workplace is unveiled. The policy paper, titled “NJ STEPS: Re-Designing Education in New Jersey for the 21st Century,” provides recommendations of the New Jersey High School Redesign Steering Committee that focus on five areas, including standards and high school graduation requirements, assessment alignment, teachers and school leaders, learning communities and personalized education, and P-16 (preschool through post secondary school) alignment.
The proposal was presented at a joint board meeting of the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education and State Board of Education at William Paterson University that included Governor Jon S. Corzine, along with the two co-chairs of the steering committee.
“The Task Force has admirably addressed every aspect of high school education and the potential for its seamless integration into higher education in New Jersey,” said Governor Corzine in accepting the report. “We have an obligation and a vested economic interest to equip our high school students with the tools they need to build successful lives. These recommendations are a blueprint for this process.” [Read more →]

Looking to trim the fat from your monthly budget? Follow these four innovative tips and you’ll soon be shopping for a thicker billfold.
1. Pump It Up and Slow It Down
Here are two easy ways to save nearly $1,000 a year: inflate those tires and slow down. Underinflated tires can quickly gobble up gas mileage. Plus, slowing down and driving 60 miles an hour, not 80, can save you nearly 35 percent annually.
2. Go Green, Save Green
The days of oversized pickups and SUVs for vanity’s sake are over. Making the switch from land yacht to earth-friendly hybrid could significantly increase your MPG. Not keen on econo-boxes? Choosing a fuel-efficient vehicle in your preferred class can still save as much as $2000 a year. [Read more →]

Federal lawmakers from New Jersey are pushing legislation they say will bring lower gas prices and less dependence on oil.
Sens. Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg, along with Rep. Bill Pascrell, will speak at a Paterson gas station in favor of a Democratic bill that was halted last week by Republicans.
The bill to impose windfall profits taxes on oil companies and end tax breaks was blocked by Senate Republicans. They argued that punishing Big Oil won’t do a thing to lower pump prices.
